This idyllic holiday cottage sits on the edge of the National Trust’s Lanhydrock Estate in the heart of the Cornish countryside. The bijou holiday home makes a great base for a solo traveller or a couple seeking a romantic bolthole from which to explore all that Cornwall has to offer. You’ll find endless walking opportunities from your doorstep, or you can head to the north or south coast to explore Cornish highlights such as Fowey (11.5 miles) or Port Isaac (18 miles).

The barn conversion is reached via uneven external stone steps. Inside, the cottage beautifully blends original, rustic features – such as exposed beams and stonework – with contemporary design and home comforts. The main living space is open plan and features a compact kitchen area and breakfast bar-style seating for perching with a morning coffee or a light snack. After a long walk, hang your coats up by the door and return to your cosy bolthole to light the wood burner and snuggle up on the sofa to watch the Smart TV. Just off the lounge is an inviting king-size bedroom with whitewashed walls, floral fabrics, and a metal framed bed (please note, there is limited space on either side of the bed). Characterful wooden doors lead to a refreshing shower room. Outside, bask in the sunshine in the enclosed patio garden, where you’ll find furniture and a BBQ for al fresco dining. There’s also a handy outdoor shower for rinsing muddy boots and paws. The property has allocated parking for one car.

The ancient town of Lostwithiel is 3.5 miles away and has a great range of independent shops and eateries lining its attractive, historic streets. The town also hosts regular markets and is known for its fine collection of antiques shops – the ideal place to pick up a little souvenir from your travels. Further afield, enjoy a day of retail therapy amongst the quaint boutiques and galleries in the picturesque harbour town of Fowey. For a day at the beach, journey to the sandy cove at Polkerris, 11.5 miles away.

This cottage was so cute and cosy and had everything we needed. The location is also perfect with fantastic walks straight from the cottage or coastal paths and beaches 20mins drive away.

This is a hidden gem. If you're looking for a unique romantic getaway or a place to stay with your dog to explore the local area this is perfect. If you love quirky but homely this is the place for you. The occasional ducking your head is required but my husband is Dutch and tall and we had no issues providing you duck in the right place. The ownerRead mores have evidently really thought about everything and are very attentive. Truly a lovely place to stay. Hide

We found it to be cosy, quiet, well equipped and well placed to get to to places such as Fowey. It was a short walk to woods if you have a dog which are welcome, we felt rested after our 5 nights stay, we would use again.

We really enjoyed our stay in this cosy cottage! Despite its small size, it was comfy for two people and is in a great location for exploring both the North and South coasts.

The Piggery was perfect for us with lots of walks from the front door, including the National Trusts Lanhydrock. It is centrally located with a 20 minute drive to many different villages and beaches. I would recommend this cosy cottage.
