This stylish holiday home for families and friends is in the heart of the Cornish countryside, near the historic town of Bodmin. The cottage sits on the edge of the River Fowey, where you can fish and enjoy a spot of wild swimming. There are also some lovely walks to explore through the surrounding woodlands. In the evenings, take the short, 500-metre stroll to the local pub. Days out from the cottage include the picturesque harbour town of Fowey (14 miles) and the idyllic fishing village of Port Isaac (20 miles).

The detached woodland hideaway in decorated in a contemporary style, with sleek furniture and little pops of colour in the soft furnishings and accessories. The ground floor is home to an impressive, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Spend time in this sociable space, rustling up tasty treats for the group in the chic kitchen area, which you can share at the breakfast bar or around the farmhouse-style dining table. After dinner, congregate in the cosy lounge area, which features statement sofas and armchairs, a TV/DVD, and roaring wood burner. Completing the ground floor is a double bedroom with an en-suite shower room and direct access to the garden. The two remaining bedrooms – one of which is a bunk bedroom – are upstairs, along with the family bathroom. Guests also have access to a shared games/party room. Outside, sip a morning coffee on the raised, decked area, dine alfresco on the patio, and play outdoor games on the enclosed lawn. Private parking is available for two cars.

Heading south from the cottage, you’ll soon reach the coast. Spend the day at the popular seaside resort of Looe (13 miles), or perhaps follow the dramatic South West Coast Path between Fowey and Polperro, where the views and wildlife watching opportunities are truly outstanding. The wild and rugged landscape of Bodmin Moor is just 3 miles away and is another haven for keen walkers.
