Wake up to peace and serenity in this woodland hideaway in the heart of the Cornish countryside. The shepherd’s hut sleeps two guests and is the perfect retreat for couples looking to get away from it all. The property’s central location makes it ideal for day trips to both the north and south coast, and nearby points of interest include Jamaica Inn (9 miles) and The Lost Gardens of Heligan (20 miles). After a day of exploring, unwind in the hot tub and listen to the sound of the birds in the surrounding trees.

The colourful riverside cabin has been beautifully finished, with a delicate, pastel colour scheme and an array of pretty fabrics and cute accessories. Along the back wall of the main living space is a carefully designed kitchenette for rustling up hearty breakfasts and light bites. A charming breakfast bar sits under the window – the ideal spot for a morning coffee as you plan your day. Banquette-style seating provides a comfortable spot to unwind with a good book, and there is a cosy wood burner for chilly nights. At the far end of the hut, you’ll find a sumptuous double bed, and at the other end, a shower room. Outside, dine alfresco on the patio overlooking the river, share a bottle of wine around the firepit, and chill out in the hot tub. There is private parking available for two cars.

Aside from the plentiful walking opportunities on your doorstep, you’ll also find some spectacular routes across Bodmin Moor. Popular trails include Golitha Falls, the Bronze Age stone circles at Minions, and The Cheesewring (all within 10 miles). Further afield, it’s easy to take a day trip to the picturesque harbour town of Fowey, Tintagel Castle, the idyllic fishing village of Port Isaac, and the surfing hotspot of Newquay (all within 25 miles).

Location Middle of nowhere, tucked away beside a pair of rivers in the middle of the woods. There are a few gates and tight lanes to navigate, then a bit of a walk from car to lodge. Amenities Hot tub, perfect. Fire pit, also perfect. Everything was as described in this delightfully cosy lodge. The owner left us some firewood for the stove, Read moreand we supplemented with our own as we exhausted the supply. Condition Nothing in need of repair, and very clean. Notes If you're on the bigger side (40+ inch waist), the shower door may be a little snug The area between lodge and hot tub is gravel, flip flops are recommended Overall This was a wonderful property to hide from the world in, excellent value. Honestly the most relaxed holiday weve had in a long while. Sitting in the hot tub or around the fire whilst listening to the river flowing and watching the dragonflies dancing. Everything cooked on the bbq, although there is a hob you can use. It was a real sensory experience. Thank you for choosing such a picturesque setting so close to the riverRead more. We didnt choose to venture very far as it was lovely not feeling the need to drive anywhere however we did find it was an easy walk to the pub through the countryside.
