Tucked within Mousehole’s tight-knit, winding streets, this charming getaway is a delightful find for a couple’s escape, with sea views and its own sub-tropical garden. Enjoy original features mingled with modern conveniences, all just minutes from charming shops, art galleries, pubs and restaurants, not to mention a tiny tidal beach and the beautiful coastal path.

Hang your coat in the porch and step straight into the beautiful lounge/diner, in which the atmosphere is immediately welcoming and cosy. Comfortable seating and a wood burner take away the chill in cooler months, and the views from the front window are mesmerising. If you can tear your eyes away there’s also a Smart TV for entertainment. A table for two provides a spot for cream teas and meals of local seafood. The compact kitchen beyond has been carefully designed to provide everything the cook will need, plus that all-important coffee machine. Upstairs, you’ll find a bright double bedroom, again with gorgeous views over the village roofs and harbour, and an en-suite bathroom. As an extra treat, steps outside lead to a secret garden next to the property, where the exotic planting includes bananas and palm trees. Here, you can cook your supper on the BBQ and dine on the terrace as you plan your next day’s adventures.

Reached via a pedestrian walkway, the cottage is within 150 metres of Mousehole’s delightful shops and eateries. Spend hours getting lost in its maze of medieval streets and take in the view of St Michael’s Mount from the sea wall. Set off on the coast path for a walk to the enchanting Lamorna Cove, 2.5 miles, or the market town of Penzance in the opposite direction, 3.5 miles. Exploring further, Land''s End, Sennen Cove, Porthcurno, the Minack Theatre and St Ives are all within 12 miles.

NOTES: No Children or Infants. Access to the property involves a gently rising hill, which may not be suitable for those with mobility issues.

This is a wonderful cottage in a perfect location. The owners put lots of effort in the overall appearance, but also in many lovely details. One immediately feels at home when entering. On the ground floor, there are a cosy living room and well-equipped kitchen, but the highlight is the bedroom upstairs (with en-suite bathroom), providing spectaculRead morear views of Mounts Bay and St. Michaels Mount. There is also a well-kept private garden with outdoor seating area for afternoon teas, drinks, or BBQs. We had a perfect time at Secret Haven Cottage. NB: Access is via a steep sideway (about 50 metres) off the street, so probably not recommended for individuals able to walk only with difficulty. Hide

This is a really lovely cottage with fantastic views across the sea and an enchanting garden that is perfect for relaxing in. Our stay was very peaceful, and the cottage had everything we needed - even a fan, which was useful in the hot weather. The bed was really comfortable and the cottage has a big bath to soak in after any long days walking.Read more The most impressive bit though has to be the garden. This is accessed by a gate and once you walk into it you are in your own private oasis, surrounded by plants and trees. The garden is so well cared for with lots of interesting and colourful plants and flowers. It is perfect for sitting with a book looking out at the sea, or cooking up food on the barbecue. It has to be said that people with any mobility issues may find the cottage tricky to access, as you have to climb a hill to reach it. However you are rewarded by amazing views so it is definitely worth it. Our hosts Linda and John were lovely, allowing us to drop our luggage off early, and were quick to respond to any queries we had. Plus they left us very thoughtful treats for our arrival - including fresh roses, wine and cake. Its the perfect place for a proper break and we hope to return in the future. Hide

Ive given 5 stars for location, which reflects the splendid views from the cottage and exquisite garden, but the cottage description should include a clear warning about the 250 foot, INCREDIBLY steep, very narrow path to get there. Bad enough without lugging cases and bags, and a tricky descent. The cottage would be totally inaccessible for the elRead morederly or those with walking difficulties or limited mobility. This should be made clear in a disclaimer/warning. Hide
