Return from mornings on the beach and afternoons exploring coastal Cornwall to this contemporary woodland lodge within the beautiful grounds of a hotel. Sleeping six guests, the three-bedroom, Scandinavian-style retreat is near Trewhiddle, 1 mile from the centre of St Austell, and 2 miles from the beach at Porthpean. It has its own private balcony but also enjoys access to a shared BBQ patio and other hotel facilities including a swimming pool, sauna, steam room, gym and tennis courts.
Make your way inside to find the holiday home has a reverse-level design. The living spaces and rooms here are bright, stylish and of a high-quality finish. The bedrooms, a twin, a double, and a super-king-size that can also be made up as a twin if requested, are situated on the ground floor, together with the family bathroom. One of the bedrooms has an en-suite bathroom. Follow the stairs up to the first floor to find the impressive, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, with its vaulted, timber ceiling and ample space for everyone to spread out. Open the doors onto the balcony in here so people can spill outside on fine days. Prepare hearty feasts in the well-equipped kitchen area, with its granite work surfaces. Watch TV, play games or discuss the day’s activities as you relax on the soft seating. Pour yourselves a glass of wine and take in the scenic views from the balcony as the sun goes down.
Pack a picnic and head down to sheltered Porthpean Beach, which is popular for kayaking and canoeing as its waters are fairly calm. The white sands of Pentewan Beach, 3 miles away, are also a favourite with families. Have a day out to the famous Eden Project, 5 miles away, to see the biodomes and their varied and exotic plant life.
