You can truly get back to nature in this high-quality riverside lodge, set among 17 acres of magical woodland and meadow in central Cornwall between Bodmin and Liskeard. A wonderful retreat for couples, friends or families, it’s tastefully decorated and has a beautiful raised balcony for gazing at beautiful mature woodland views down the valley.
This superb, single-storey lodge boasts large windows, lots of timber and a warm colour scheme. Its open-plan living space is a delight, with a lounge area facing the glazed doors to the balcony, making the most of the gorgeous views. Throw the doors open for that inside/outside feeling, or draw the curtains and get cosy in front of the TV. The L-shaped kitchen has all the equipment you’ll need to conjure up tasty snacks or gourmet meals, and you can enjoy them at the dining table for six before spreading out your map and planning the next day’s adventures. The king-size bedroom has an en-suite shower room and south-facing windows looking towards the valley and river. Two further bedrooms at the opposite end of the lodge, a king-size and a twin, also have lovely views, and share a large shower room. For dining in the fresh air, head to the patio with garden furniture and a BBQ, or take a meal or a drink onto the balcony, which has a bistro set for two.
Private fishing rights allow the fisher folk in your party to enjoy our fully licensed stretch of the river Fowey. A true moorland river, the Fowey rises at the highest point in Cornwall near Brown Willy on Bodmin. It flows for 30 miles to the sea at Fowey, passing us here below your stay at Rivermead, and is little influenced by agricultural or industrial activities. Characteristically termed 'gin clear' within the community, it provides a good challenge to the keenest of fly fishers.
You’re well situated near the A30 in the heart of Cornwall, making it easy to visit the south coast (around 15 miles) or the north coast (20-25 miles). Fowey, 12.5 miles, is a chic coastal town with great shops and places to eat, while Padstow, 19.5 miles, is known as a foodie destination. Explore the antiques shops of Lostwithiel, 6.5 miles, or spend the day at the National Trust’s Lanhydrock House & Garden, 2.5 miles.
