Boasting sweeping countryside views across a tranquil bridle path and horse paddock, this light-filled, south-facing escape beautifully pairs a modern-industrial aesthetic with refined coastal curation. It’s not far from the Pentewan Valley Trail which provides a pleasant, mainly flat 3.5-mile route through glorious woodland, with stretches running alongside the riverbank. From Pentewan, it is possible to follow the Cornish Way cycle route to the picturesque fishing village of Mevagissey (5 miles). Located on the historic old Trewhiddle Farm on the southwestern edge of St Austell at the entrance to the Pentewan Valley, this secluded base is positioned just off the main A390, offering a wide-road central launchpad to explore all of Cornwall. This secluded base sits within easy reach of top Cornish attractions including the Eden Project (5 miles), Lost Gardens of Heligan (5 miles) and historic Charlestown (2 miles). It’s just a short hop to a selection of quality south coast beaches like Carlyon Bay (2.5 miles), Porthpean, and Pentewan Sands (4 miles); and there is an immense convenience of being just a 10-minute stroll from St Austell's centre - a perfectly positioned holiday experience.

Arrival is via a practical boot room, leading into a modern, fully equipped kitchen and dining space featuring light oak wood flooring throughout the ground floor. Here, grey cabinets with white quartz countertops complement the extending reclaimed wood dining table which creates the ideal setting for home cooking and leisurely meals. Enter the lounge through the glass double doors and curl up in front of the Smart TV and wood burner for a movie night. Relax into the seagrass sofa, and watch the firelight from the three-glass-panel wood burner dance across stunning pieces of Jo Downs fused glass fish wall art. For remote workers there is a reclaimed wood desk with a vintage 1920s solid oak swivel chair. Three inviting bedrooms await you on the first floor, including the bright king-size master bedroom boasting a solid French oak furniture and an en-suite shower room. The second bedroom is a sophisticated nautical escape offering a double bed alongside charming countryside views. The third bedroom is anchored by rare antique mahogany furniture and a vibrant Oriental theme, which is set up as a twin room but has the flexibility of being offered as a super-king-size room. The modern tiled family bathroom completes the first floor.

Outside, the property caters perfectly to both humans and hounds, balancing rural serenity with total modern convenience. The fully secure rear garden features a mud-free artificial turf lawn and a paved patio for alfresco dining. A delightful enclosed, paved, south-facing terrace awaits you at the front, offering views of the adjacent fields. There is a private garage to store surfboards or bikes. Right on your doorstep, the quiet public bridleway serves as the ultimate dog walk, winding to the crest of the hill for panoramic views over a rolling golf course and the Cornish hills.

The cottage was extremely clean and well maintained. The level of kitchen equipment excelled. Good quality and enough to cook meals and more. The beds were very comfortable and the house attractively decorated. Outside space good. Parking available right outside the house. Might be our age but we took a little while to find it. Heres a Read moresuggested improvement to directions: from the Devon side go straight over several roundabouts until you come to two right on top of each other, with MacDonalds on your left. At the first, avoid the left hand lane for Mevagissey. At the second take the narrow lane immediately before the EG petrol station, marked Trewhiddle Lane. OK ? Many thanks. Hide

This is a really lovely modern holiday cottage. The owner has thought of absolutely everything that you could possibly need and has decorated it beautifully. It feels 'tucked away', with a peaceful country walk starting from the front of the house, yet it is very close to St Austell and all amenities. Everything was clean and very comfortable. TheRead more back garden (leading to the car parking area) is small but is very secure, so was great for our two dogs. The house is very well-situated for exploring most of Cornwall and is near to many attractions. The welcome pack was much appreciated. We met a very nice neighbour (no 6) who had actually bought a neighbouring property after holidaying at Trewhiddle House - we can see why! We would definitely return here if we wanted to re-visit this area. Highly recommended. Hide

We have just returned from a lovely week. The owners have thought of EVERYTHING, this was hands down the most well equipped and home from home house that we have ever stayed in. The weather was predictably british so having a house that was built for living really helped. Location was quiet and unusual in that it is a new build on a small estate,Read more yet it has the feel of being old and rustic. The town nearby was a little tired but lets be honest youre going to visit Cornwall to explore its beaches, fishing villages . Both of which are 10/15 mins in the car away. We had a fabulous family Christmas here - 2 adults, our 4 children (teens+early 20s) plus 2 dogs. As other reviewers have said, the property is immaculate. We have stayed in many holiday cottages over the years and even though I loved most of them, I never unpack, instead I just live out of my bag for the week. This time the house was so clean and warm, with no holiday house damp drawer smell that I unpacked immediately. Much easier! The location is very quiet and peaceful, with a lovely view over a field of horses, but it is only a short walk in to the town. There are several supermarkets 5 to 10 mins away by car and there are lots of beautiful beaches and walks nearby. The house is fully equipped, even down to having rechargeable torches in sockets in the kitchen and upstairs hall, and there is an outside tap and hose to clean dogs and wellies after muddy walks. Martin called a few days before we went, to welcome us and to check we knew how to get in, which was very kind. We all thoroughly recommend staying here! Hide
