A beautifully furnished holiday home in a lovely rural setting, this cottage is the perfect spot to enjoy all that North Cornwall has to offer. This appealing property sleeps six guests, plus two dogs, and is set in the peaceful village of Penrose, just 3 miles from the sea at Porthcothan Bay. An ideal base for families or friends sharing, it has an enclosed garden overlooking the countryside. There are shops, delis and eateries in the nearby village of St Merryn, also 3 miles away, including a Rick Stein-owned pub serving traditional dishes such as bangers and mash.
The semi-detached house has an open-plan lounge/diner/kitchen layout, with comfortable seating and countryside views. A large picture window and doors leading to the garden fill this welcoming space with light. There is a handy breakfast bar in the contemporary kitchen, with a cloakroom and utility room completing the ground floor. Upstairs, there is a family bathroom with a bath, a shower room and three restful bedrooms: two king-size and a twin. Outside, the garden has a patio area with seating and steps up to the lawn, enclosed from neighbouring farmland by a stone wall. Dog owners are asked to ensure their pets remain in the garden.
Sheltered Porthcothan Bay is a wide stretch of golden sand, one of several gorgeous family-favourite beaches along this outstanding stretch of coast. The beach at Porthcothan is dog friendly all year round and there are wonderful cliff-top walks with splendid views. The pretty fishing port of Padstow (5 miles) is a lovely place for a wander along the colourful harbour, where you can sit with a drink and watch the bustling fishing boats. While in Padstow visit Prideaux Place, a beautiful Elizabethan manor house. For hours of family fun, head to the go-kart circuit at St Eval (6 miles).
