This delightful, dog-friendly cottage is crammed with original features and full of historic character. Set over three floors, it’s a reviving getaway in the heart of pretty Fowey, perfect for families and friends. Close to shops and restaurants, and just half a mile from the beach, it has gorgeous river views from its enchanting garden.

Unload a short walk away then take a moment to admire the pretty facade of this charming cottage in a pedestrian lane, before entering through its ancient front door. On the ground floor you’ll find a bright and airy twin bedroom and a dual-use utility room with laundry facilities, a freezer, a shower and a WC. The other bedrooms, a double and a single, are on the first floor, along with the family bathroom, and you’ll head up the quirky, cottage-style stairs to the top floor where there’s a split-level, open-plan living space. Cook supper in the pretty kitchen, then it’s three steps up to the dining area, and afterwards you can relax on the sofas around the Smart TV or step out and up into the sloping garden, which boasts a large lawned area plus a paved terrace with table and chairs, BBQ and views of the river. There’s also a rear courtyard outside the utility room - great for storing beach equipment - which has a metal spiral staircase leading up to the garden.

The property is just 100m from the harbourside in the chic coastal town of Fowey, where you can spend days wandering the pretty winding streets and exploring a fabulous variety of independent shops and art galleries. You’re spoilt for choice with places to eat and drink, too. If you want to get out on the water, the maritime activities on offer include kayaking, fishing, boat trips and river cruising.

Fantastic location and for Fowey this property has an excellent garden. Anyone who knows Fowey knows how rare this is for a house / cottage so close to the town. The big let down for this property is the damp, the lower floor suffered from this even with the humidifier on the whole of our stay. The cottage felt like the heating had not been on forRead more a while. Any clothes left in the ground floor bedroom felt damp. Such a shame otherwise a perfect place to stay in Fowey Hide

We booked the house as it had been home of a relative of my husband and his cousin back in the 60s. We enjoyed our stay as it was super easy to explore Fowey and travel around by boat from the house, it is close to plenty of places to eat and drink . The church is behind and chimes on the hour but I have to say it did not stop any of us sleeping ! Read moreThe car park is a good walk but we managed to drop our stuff down and collect easily ,we found doing so after the car park mini bus had stopped and the shops starting close gave us able space . The house is interesting and has everything we needed. The garden is really nice and with good weather we made use of it we also managed to avoid any issues with the seagulls , they are all nesting on roofs and are very vocal. Hide

Very poor, damp and shabby and not a 4*property; we understand the restrictions and constraints around renovating a grade 2 listed property but this property is in no way a 4* holiday rental. If we werent restricted we would have left straight away.
