In a haven for wildlife and close to fabulous walks, this peaceful, dog-friendly property is a superb rural retreat just for two adults and has gorgeous views. Located between maritime Falmouth and the cathedral city of Truro, it’s within easy reach of beaches, shops, art galleries, gardens, outdoor activities and many of Cornwall’s top attractions.

This single-storey wooden lodge has an open-plan living space with a sleek fitted kitchen. Dine at the bistro table by the window and then relax on the recliner chairs, enjoying the country views or perhaps a favourite show on the TV. The pretty double bedroom is decorated in neutral tones and has ample clothes storage. There’s a spacious shower room and, attached to the property, a utility room with a freezer, washing machine and storage for bikes, outdoor gear or beach equipment. As for outside space, you can open the French doors in the lounge area onto a small deck, and there’s also an enclosed deck with dining furniture (across a gravelled drive) where you can enjoy alfresco meals while relishing the scenery. If you’re bringing a furry friend. The holiday property is located within the grounds of the owner’s home, in a valley where you may spot deer, woodpeckers and finches, not to mention the owner’s Shire horses, which are sometimes kept in the 10 acres of fields and woodland outside.

The village of Ponsanooth - where there’s a traditional pub and an excellent local store - is just 0.5 miles from the lodge via a gate from the property. The walks and waterfalls of Kennall Vale Woods are less than a mile away, and you can access the Bissoe Trail, popular with walkers, cyclists and runners, at Devoran, 2.5 miles.

Clippety Clop was just the perfect getaway. A lovely enclosed decking area gave us the opportunity to enjoy the evening sunshine with stunning views down the valley and with the viaduct as the backdrop. The accommodation was cosy and comfortable. It had everything we required.
