Set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this romantic retreat is the perfect base for couples who enjoy an outdoor lifestyle. You’ll be on the outskirts of Bodmin Moor, with endless tracks and trails to explore through the wild and remote landscape. Heading to the coast, discover the foodie delights of Padstow (17 miles) and the myths and legends of Tintagel Castle (12 miles).
A bridge across a tiny stream leads to the idyllic cottage. Once inside, you’ll find a characterful lounge, with a beamed ceiling, exposed stonework, and a cosy wood burner. This is the perfect place to snuggle up with a glass of wine after a long moorland walk. There’s also a pretty window seat for relaxing with your favourite book and a vinyl turntable with a selection of records. The country-cottage kitchen/diner is full of charm and has everything you need to create a delicious dinner for two. A bathroom with a small bathtub completes this floor. When it’s time for bed, climb the stairs to the inviting double bedroom with an en-suite shower room. Outside, soak up the sunshine in the enclosed, leafy garden, which has furniture for outdoor dining and a firepit for toasting marshmallows under the stars.
As you’d expect, the walks in the area are exceptional. From the village of St Breward (0.5 miles), you can climb to the summit of Rough Tor, which is the second highest point in Cornwall. From here, the views are stunning and, on a clear day, you can see both the north and south coast. The historic town of Bodmin (9 miles) is well worth a visit during your stay. Take a tour of the 18th-century jail, visit Lanhydrock National Trust, or hire a bike and follow the Camel Trail to Padstow or Wadebridge.
