Situated in the picturesque village of Boscastle, just a short walk from the harbour, this traditional stone cottage with lots of character is ideal for families or friends looking for a restful holiday in this beautiful part of Cornwall. Keen walkers can take a clifftop ramble or take in the beautiful lush landscape of the verdant Valency Valley, one of the areas that inspired Thomas Hardy and many other authors, artists and poets with its beauty and tranquillity.

This inviting property, set over two floors, is elegantly furnished and has a spacious feel with a separate lounge and dining room, both of which feature cosy wood burners. The lounge is a lovely social space, with plenty of comfortable seating to help you unwind at the end of a day of adventure and a Smart TV to watch your favourite films. Doors from the lounge lead to the back garden. The contemporary kitchen makes meal preparation a dream. A wet room completes the features on the ground floor. There is a shower room and three bedrooms on the first floor - one king-size room with an en-suite shower room, one twin room, and a single room. Outside is an enclosed garden, so it is safe for children to play, with a summer house and garden furniture. This is a peaceful private space to enjoy dining alfresco in fine weather.

If you are interested in local history, visit the nearby Witchcraft Museum (1 mile) or explore the rugged coastline on the way to Merlin’s Cave (4 miles). St Nectan’s Glen (2.5 miles) offers walkers an easily accessible mile long walk to view the wonderful waterfalls. One of the best family beaches is found at Bude. What a beautiful and comfortable cottage. The cottage was very clean throughout. There was plenty of hot water for the showers. We had a lovely holiday. The location of the cottage is ideal for reaching many interesting places. Definitely recommend.

Chestnut Cottage was a real home from home. It was more spacious than we expected. We really enjoyed our stay there & the village of Boscastle. Special thanks to Mark for sorting the thermostat so promptly. Whilst we were at Chestnut to explore the area, one gripe was the Sky television reception. If we were paying for it. would not be happy (!). Read moreWe did pick up on the games in the evening, especially enjoying Deal Monopoly & Mind. All in all a really enjoyable week. Cheers, Hide

This is a well-appointed cottage that is a short walk down to the Wellington pub, the walk back up the hill is harder - Boscastle is hilly! Another review commented that the cottage is on a main road and parking is on the other side of the road. It is, but this main road isnt as busy as the suburban side road I live in, it is quiet. We enjoyed our Read morestay and were blessed with excellent, warm, sunny September weather. Just unwinding, reading in the garden with a glass of wine and using the cottage as a base. Hide

A very comfortable large property that suited our family of 5 adults very well. Spacious house, beautiful garden and lovely beds/linen. A steep walk back up the hill from Boscastle but works off all the lovely food & drink! Parking is very helpful but slightly tricky (we had an estate car) Road outside meant to be 20mph but was much quicker tRead morehan this not an issue with older kids/adults. Great neighbour, very helpful regarding local area/beaches/tide times etc as no information left in property or a guest book to get recommendations. No welcome pack (milk/tea/coffee etc) handwash, or cleaning products provided. Beautiful area, loved Boscastle; the harbour, SW path walks and surrounding area. Farm shop great and The Good Stuff cafe fab. A few personal touches would make this an outstanding property. Hide

We had a lovely week at the Chestnuts. Very clean. Super comfy beds. Lots of hot water. A spacious property with the exception of the main bathroom, which was incredibly small. Access to the garden was a real bonus as we had a three year old with us. Parking opposite was good and we didn't have a problem with having to cross the road.

We had an amazing family holiday staying in The Chestnuts. A great blend of traditional Cornwall cottage with modern facilities internally for a comfortable stay. Highly recommend.

Our family of five visited in September, we were over the moon with the cottage, the location, everything. Everything we needed in the most beautiful location and we are already planning our return for next year.

A couple of small issues the key safe instruction was not clear it referred to a shed rather than the garage the neighbours had to help us find it. The parking was referred to as across the road which was correct but actually was at times a very busy which made loading and unloading of cases at times slightly hazardous. The other issue was the washRead more hand basins on the first floor which were much too small and made washing shaving and tooth brushing difficult. None of these issues affected our enjoyment of our stay but hopefully could be addressed Hide
