Stroll beside the River Fowey on your way to dine out on fresh Cornish seafood or to browse in boutiques and galleries. This enticing holiday home looks out towards the river from some of its rooms, including its sumptuous second-floor lounge. It is also in a superb location for meandering around town, heading off to beautiful beaches and exploring this south-eastern section of coastal Cornwall. Sleeping seven guests, the four-bedroom villa also welcomes four-legged friends.
Make your way into the property via an external flight of 15 steps and wander through to the bright kitchen/diner to unpack the fresh produce you have bought and start preparing lunch. Whip up a tasty feast, then call everyone to the table, opening the French doors that are two steps up, on sunny days. Also downstairs is a single bedroom, with additional, single pull-out bed. A king-size bedroom, with an en-suite bathroom, and two doubles, one with a smaller 4’ bed for one person, are on the first floor, together with a family bathroom. The lounge, which has skylight windows bringing the natural light flooding in and offering views of the river, is up on the second floor. Here you can settle on the soft seating in front of a film on TV or a DVD. Carry your morning coffee out into the small courtyard when the weather is warm and relax out here with a glass of wine in the evening. Parking is in a public pay car park less than 100 metres from the house.
Walk about 250 metres to catch the ferry over to Bodinnick, then drive 2.5 miles down to the National Trust’s scenic beach at Lantic Bay. Alternatively, a 1-mile walk beside the river and estuary will take you to Readymoney Cove, where you can also swim and spend time on the sand.
