While away your time in west Cornwall on the banks of the Helford River in The Lizard Heritage Coast – surrounded by pristine sandy beaches and cliff-top walking routes. Stay in this charming cottage with elegant cream interiors and wooden beamed ceilings. Admire river views from the garden and spend your evenings with your family or the other half in front of the wood burner inside of a characterful inglenook fireplace.

On the ground floor of this coastal cottage is a cosy living room with two sofas, a window seat and a feature fireplace. Continue into the dining room where a dining table sits in front of the wood burner and beneath the wooden beamed ceiling. The galley kitchen is bright and compact – with everything you need to cook a special meal for your loved ones. Upstairs is a family bathroom with a roll top, claw-foot bath plus two bedrooms – a king-size and a twin. Outside the quay-side garden and upper rear garden has seating and tranquil views.

Start your day with a wander through the village of Helford and stop for some breakfast at the cafe before strolling to the riverfront (within 0.5 miles). From here a ferry can take you to Helford Passage (1 mile) – not far from here is the secluded sandy Grebe Beach (2 miles) and Trebah Garden (1.5 miles). For a memorable day out, visit the Cornish Seal Sanctuary (8.5 miles) – which has a collection of penguins, otters, ponies and seals. Wonderfully located cosy property with great walks from the doorstep and dark starlit skies at night .We enjoyed taking the ferry to Glendurgan gardens where there is a delightfully tricky maze and a nice cafe . We also enjoyed The walks to St . Anthony and Frenchmans Creek and on a rainy day the museum in Helston .

Ah the cottage had a strong smell of damp, the wall in the living room was bulging, assuming due to hidden damp within the wall. The master bedroom mattress is disgusting, I noticed it when stripping the bed as requested on the last day. The mattress appeared to be as old as the old bed frame, my skin has been crawling ever since. The dining room iRead mores very nice, and the bathroom is to a high standard. In short, the location is beautiful although somewhat remote (which is to be expected), the cottage is very nice, but requires attention to: (i) Fresh paint (ii) Living room smell, wall and/or damp requires attention (iii) The master bedroom mattress is absolutely vile. It is a shame that these negative points have shaped our reason never to return to this cottage. To be honest it has put us off using cottages again, I think well stick to nice hotels in future. Very nice cottage in a glorious location. We loved the two garden seating areas - one by the creek and one on a terrace behind the house. Only minor negative: theres not really enough crockery/cutlery to be able to use the dishwasher and not run out - it would be helpful to have more. Also, some kitchen basics like salt, pepper and oil would be reaRead morelly useful and prevent you needing to buy duplicates that you end up using only a little bit of. Other than that, though, great holiday cottage. Hide
