A beautiful, terraced cottage in the historic fisherman’s quarter of Downalong, St Ives, is perfect for couples or families looking for a relaxing holiday in one of Cornwall’s most popular seaside towns. There are four sandy beaches to choose from within half a mile of the property, so bring your buckets and spades and water sports gear and come and enjoy the sand and surf.
This charming three-storey property has a coastal theme and decor and furnishings with relaxing blue tones, so you feel at ease as soon as you enter. On the ground floor is a contemporary kitchen/dining room with everything you need to prepare meals and enjoy eating while admiring the characterful exposed brickwork. The bathroom is also found on the ground floor. Stairs from the kitchen/diner lead to the first-floor lounge with plenty of comfortable seating to unwind and enjoy chatting or watching the TV. There is a stove-style gas fire that is purely decorative. On the second floor is a double and a single bedroom, each with a TV for lazy morning lie-ins. Although there is no outside space, the delights of St Ives are on your doorstep, and a 300-metre stroll will bring you to the picturesque harbour.
The South West Coast Path runs through the town, so walkers can follow the route in either direction - enjoy the views on the walk to The Merry Harvesters Stone Circle (2.5 miles), passing Man’s Head and Clodgy Point. If you love the local sea life, head up to National Trust Godrevy (10.5 miles), and after admiring the lighthouse, walk around the cove towards Gwithian Beach to see if you can spot the seals. Paradise Park and Jungle Barn (6 miles) is a great day out for all the family, with a wildlife park and children’s play area to enjoy.
