The Cottage is an unusually light, newly refurbished stone cottage tucked away in a quiet, secluded corner of the village, yet only yards from the edge of the river and the lovely thatched C18th Shipwrights Arms pub.  It's just a 3-minutes walk to Helford Point with its stunning river views and where a small ferry takes foot passengers across the Helford River.

From the charming and private enclosed patio, the front door opens into the large living/dining room featuring beamed ceilings, a stone fireplace with wood-burner, oak floor, and comfy sofa and chairs. There is a flatscreen smart TV and a cupboard full of board games.

From the dining area, with its rustic wooden kitchen table, you enter the bespoke shaker-style kitchen in blue and ivory.  This features a Falcon electric range cooker, microwave and dishwasher, a slate floor with under-floor heating, and a breakfast bar overlooking Helford creek. There is a utility room next to the kitchen, perfect for storing coats and muddy boots, with a Belfast sink, freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer, and second fridge.

Upstairs is a lovely duck-egg blue family bathroom with bath and overhead shower. There is a small double bedroom with beautiful river views, a spacious master bedroom with generous 6’ bed, and a nautically-themed bunk-room with full-length 2’6” wide beds and small selection of toys in the under-bed storage drawers. Please note that the master bedroom is accessed via the bunk-room.

Outside there is a sheltered patio that is a real sun-trap for the morning and early afternoon, complete with outdoor dining table and chairs, perfect for enjoying a sunny al fresco breakfast or lunch. Off the patio, in the outhouse, there is a second loo and basin, with hanging space for wetsuits or wet towels.  There is also an outside hot water shower, ideal for rinsing off sandy feet and wetsuits after a day on the beach.

Private parking for two cars is 50 yards up the lane from The Cottage.

The property also comes with its own all-tide mooring at Potter’s pontoon, 3-minutes walk away, available for use by guests with their own boat for an extra charge.

We had an extremely relaxing and enjoyable stay at the Cottage in Helford. The village is magical, even in late January / early Feb and the walks around the area (Frenchman's Creek in particular) are beautiful. The cottage itself was warm and cosy and the view out onto the Helford estuary will live long in the memory. The Shipwrights Arms is litRead moreerally a stone's throw away and is a superb pub; Despite ongoing building works they were very welcoming and hospitable. Would highly recommend to anyone! Hide
