This charming cottage, situated in the small village of Trewellard just half a mile from Poldark-famous Geevor Tin Mine, is the perfect Cornish holiday home for families, couples or groups of friends. Sleeping four across two peaceful bedrooms, this property has a relaxing atmosphere that welcomes you home after a long day out exploring the beautiful coastline. Head along the South West Coast Path to the National Trust’s Levant Mine and Beam Engine (1 mile) and down to West Wheal Owles (2 miles) before heading back for a bite at the local pub, less than 100 metres from your front door.

You’re welcomed into the property straight into the cosy living room, where a stunning exposed brick fireplace with a wood burner sits among wood-panelled ceilings and calming blue and white tones. Curl up on the window seat that looks out across the front of the cottage with a good book. Cook up a storm in the bold shaker-style kitchen and eat at the delightful dining table, or sizzle up a BBQ out on the patio and dine alfresco. At bedtime, drift off to sleep in one of the bedrooms; both have a tranquil coastal theme, while the king-size offers views across the fields and out to sea.

Make sure you visit Land’s End (8 miles) where you’ll see incredible views of the coast; children will love Greeb Farm where they can meet all sorts of farm animals, and the 4D cinema experience. Nearby, Sennen Cove (7 miles) is a popular surfing spot and offers spectacular sunsets, plus if you’ve brought your dogs with you they can join you all year round – just between 6pm and 10am in the summer. Book a Shakespeare play or family-friendly event at the clifftop Minack Theatre (10 miles) for a unique day out.

The cottage is lovely and a great location. Benefits from off road parking. A key for the rear door would be useful - allowing exit to walk the dog. The en-suite to the main bedroom is very small. I was not able to use the toilet due to the very narrow space. I am not a particularly large person but sitting on the toilet was impossible. We were disappointed with this cottage as it needed tlc. En suite wc is virtually unusable due to being jammed in an extremely narrow place. Cooker control panel is worn out and has faded pen markings showing what is what but hard to read. Wheelie bin was overflowing when we arrived and stayed that way all week. Bathrooms very dated with some mouldRead more growth. On the plus side its a good location and cottage has a lot of space and kitchen equipment. We would not return. Hide

Great cottage for exploring this corner of Cornwall with everything it has to offer from historic mines to amazing scenery and far more than we managed to see in one visit. An extended original "miner's cottage" there was a great connection to the past we wanted to investigate in the area. Great food at the local Trewellard Arms and at Geevor Mine Read moreamong many other locations. For those wanting to explore the mining heritage, having three major mines practically on the doorstep, and within walking distance if you try a bit, is great and you can watch sunsets over the mine heads and stacks from the cottage. Visitors with dogs may want to be careful of the local cats who like to sun on the courtyard wall, but cat lovers will need to avoid adopting the bravest who will try to come in if you leave the back door open. Maybe not great if you have a large car, but them most roads around that part of Cornwall are better suited to small cars anyway. The road outside can get you fretting about getting in and out unless you are confident getting in and out of a fairly blind turn into a narrow road or turning the car within the shared parking area. Don't see that as an issue with the cottage though, it's the nature of Cornwall and a world which remains much unchanged since before cards existed - take the chance to live a different life for a while. Cute, convenient and comfy. The location is perfect for walking the coast path. Nice secure back yard for the dogs. The kitchen is well equipped and the bedrooms are cosy. We found the showers a bit tiny but nice and hot after a day out walking in January.
