Perfect for a couple or young family, this open-plan beachfront property offers panoramic views of Mount’s Bay, plus a suntrap patio and much-prized private parking.

Blending traditional Cornish charm with New England beach house style, this welcoming holiday home is a wonderful base for a laid-back family break. Smart coastal influences flow throughout the ground floor, where an open-plan lounge, kitchen and diner house all the essentials of home. There’s much to appreciate here, including super-fast Wi-Fi, but stealing the scene is the sea view through the glass doors that open onto the sunny front patio. The property’s unrivalled location comes to the fore on the first floor too, where the master bedroom – which has its own en-suite shower room – has a double bed and the same stunning outlook; wake up to the sea breeze and sound of the waves. Bunk beds ideal for younger guests are in the pretty second bedroom, and completing the layout of the upper floor – which has level access from the main entrance – is a family bathroom and utility area. Sit out on your patio for a breath of fresh air and instant relaxation; the beach is just a few metres away when you want to stretch your legs further.

Home to the UK’s most southerly working port, Porthleven has a gorgeous granite harbour where small boats land their daily catch, much of it headed for the town’s cafes, restaurants and fishmongers. Waves crashing over the sea defences can be a photographer’s dream, while on calm days, low tide reveals intriguing rock pools close to the harbour entrance. Stroll along the pier wall for a breathtaking view of the famous clock tower, Porthleven Beach and Mount’s Bay. 6 miles away, Praa Sands has family-friendly fine white sand bordered by wild headlands and backed by grass-topped dunes; 9 miles from your holiday home, St Michael’s Mount at Marazion is a must-see.

Immaculately clean and very comfortable and what a glorious position. Just a few minutes walk to all the facilities that Porthleven has to offer and some great restaurants.

Another chillaxing week in Mariners 2. I was very lucky to see seals feeding and a humpback whale putting on a show right outside. Porthleven is a truly magical place.

Fantastic cottage in a great location. The cottage was immaculate with great facilities and attention to detail. On arrival we found a welcome pack with Cornish biscuits and apple juice which was a lovely touch. Very well equipped and stocked up with cleaning products, washing up liquid, soaps, etc. Would definitely recommend the property.

Our only concern was the shortage of glasses, there were only two champagne flutes and not the oven grill takes ages to warm up.

Having been to this cottage many times, this was the first year that we have experienced any issues at all with the standard of cleanliness. Additionally, the building's fabric now clearly needs some TLC. Firstly, the extractor fan in the bathroom was really badly clogged with dust and the bathroom radiator's pipework had also not recently been dusRead moreted. Elsewhere, whilst obviously vacuumed prior to our arrival, the landing and stairs carpeting have now clearly come to the end of their life. As to the building itself, in the main bedroom there was broken plaster coming away on the front wall, as there was too, adjacent to the right-hand side of the main pair of patio doors. We appreciate that the sea-facing walls are always going to put the interior under pressure from the progression of damp, but in all our previous stays, Mariners 2 has always been immaculate, top to bottom. We are still very much looking forward to our fortnight holiday there in September next year. Hide
