Property code: LANYO

Relax in your own private wing of this countryside house, which lies in the heart of Cornwall. Just 5 miles north, the fishing village of Mevagissey waits to be explored, and many other treasures are within easy reach too, making it the ideal spot for a family break in the rolling hills of the South West. Whether you're here to explore or unwind, there's something for everyone.

You'll find the cottage tastefully and classically decorated, with many traditional countryside features to make it an undeniably Cornish bolthole. Central in the open-plan living space is a wood burner, making it a homely place to unwind, while the large windows and French doors mean natural light streams in on bright summer days.

Water sport enthusiasts will take delight in the knowledge that Newquay - Cornwall's surfing haven - is just shy of 13 miles to the north. Closer to home you'll find St. Austell (just 6 miles), where you'll have access to sandy beaches, charming restaurants, and the world-famous Eden Project. But for a truly Cornish experience, head further afield and explore the beguiling Roseland (17 miles) and Lizard (38 miles) peninsulas, perhaps hiring a kayak before enjoying a bag of chips or even a picnic, in the salty sea air.

We have just returned from a week at Lanyon's Cottage with our two boys (2 and 6 yrs old) and have had the best time. The cottage was immaculately clean and the perfect base for exploring Cornwall. It is in a lovely, peaceful village with a park opposite. Our boys loved the games cupboard and the DVD drawer and enjoyed choosing a bedtime story fromRead more the book shelf each night. We would definitely recommend Lanyons Cottage for people who would like to stay in a cosy cottage in a quieter location. Hide

Cottage is in an excellent location for exploring Cornwall. We had a great week with our 3year old who loved having her own room and a big bed. The cottage had everything we needed, very comfortable, and the playground opposite was a bonus. Touches like books, local leaflets/information and games were great.

We (Family with 2 teenage kids) had a nice one week stay in this fabulous place! Everything was nicely prepared and we could enjoy the time there. The hosts are very kind. The cottage is really a good starting point for exploring Cornwall. The Eden Project and The lost Gardens of Heligan are not far away.

Every thing we needed was there. A most welcoming tea/coffee and fresh milk provided for our arrival and even fresh flowers in the vase.
