A sweet holiday cottage with a truly rustic feel, this holiday home sets you up for a peaceful trip in rural Cornwall. It’s in a courtyard setting with handy access to a pub 400m away and more pubs, shops and a sandy beach in Portreath (1 mile). Exposed stone walls – both inside and out – give the property bundles of character as do traditional features like wooden ceiling beams and latch doors. With room for up to four over its two bedrooms, it’s ideal for a family or two couples holidaying together.
You’ll enter into an impressive open-plan living area, a delightful space with two layers of windows letting plenty of light in. There’s a modern kitchen/diner at one end and, at the other, a welcoming lounge space with a TV for kicking back in the evenings. If it’s chilly, light the wood burner to keep everyone warm. The gorgeously decorated bedrooms – a king-size and a second room that can either be a twin or a king-size – both boast lovely countryside views for you to admire first thing in the morning. If it’s good weather, spill out onto the sunny terrace, furnished with a picnic table for fair-weather feasts. A pathway to the right of the accommodation leads to a good-sized communal lawn for unwinding with fellow guests while the children let off steam.
Walkers will be keen to join the South West Coast Path 1 mile away in Portreath for scenic strolls over clifftops and past rocky coves. Local sites worth checking out are Wheal Peever, a network of trails taking in 18th-century engine houses and mineshafts, and the Godrevy Lighthouse (6.5 miles) The arty seaside town of St Ives is also only 16 miles away, and a wonderful option for a day trip.
