Enjoy some of south Cornwall’s best beaches from this gorgeous cottage in Charlestown, close to St Austell, the Eden Project, and the Lost Gardens of Heligan. With three bedrooms, an extra sofa bed and a bunk room, it makes the perfect place to get together with your friends or family for a wonderful seaside holiday.

The quirky upside-down cottage, with beautiful interiors, funky furniture, and gorgeous coastal prints, has bags of character. Head upstairs from the large hall to the open-plan living room/diner on the first floor. Kick back and watch the Smart TV, enjoy a drink or two with dinner at the dining table with views out to the waterwheel. The kitchen is also on this floor, with all the essentials plus little extras, like a Nespresso machine. The lovely double and kids’ bunk room are on the ground floor, along with the family bathroom. The gorgeous king-size room is on the second floor and has a sofa bed (ideal for two small children), as well as a Smart TV and an en-suite shower room. Heading outside, throw some burgers on the BBQ or sit under the stars in the bubbling hot tub in the enclosed garden.

The shops, harbour and restaurants are 100 metres away and there are several gorgeous sandy beaches within 1.5 miles, the nearest being 500 metres away. Charlestown harbour is famed for its tall ships and for being a filming location for several TV programmes and movies. The cottage is perfectly placed for exploring the wider area. St Austell is 1.5 miles away, where you’ll find some great eateries, shops, and a brewery. The popular eco attraction, the Eden Project, is 3 miles way and the beautiful Lost Gardens of Heligan are 7 miles away where there are often fun family events.

The beautiful house is situated within a 10 minute walk to the shops, restaurants and harbour and a short drive to lovely towns and beaches. I am disabled so having a downstairs bedroom and bathroom was a definite plus for me, the owners were very helpful and answered any concerns quickly. We would recommend this property and we will be back soon.

My wife and I stayed here along with our two small dogs first week of June 2024. Later in the week my daughter and partner also joined. The house, styling and contents were in very good condition and had plenty of space for all of us. The welcome milk and bread was very much appreciated after a long drive. The location to harbour and eateries (EdieRead more's, Rasleigh Arms, and Longstore) is perfect. I took time to play a few golf courses around and highly recommend St. Mellion (Nicklaus). Hide

Staying at Galleon's Rest was amazing - so comfortable and clean. My daughter and I felt very cared for while we were there. We had everything we needed and the short stroll into Charlestown was a treat. The walk to Carlyon Bay was gorgeous and the local cuisine was wonderful. Many thanks, Debra for all the effort you put into our stay :)
