Step out straight from this exquisite former fisherman’s cottage and wander down to the harbour at Polruan. With spectacular views straight out over the River Fowey, the attractive, two-bedroom abode sleeps up to four guests and welcomes one canine companion. Wander the pretty streets of the village, catch the ferry over to vibrant Fowey and head out along the beautiful South Cornwall coast to discover charming villages and scenic coves.

Open the front door to this character-filled cottage and make yourselves at home in the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Relax on the sofa in front of a film on the Smart TV or have a cup of tea at the table as you look out over the harbour. Prepare meals in here too with the fresh, local produce you have bought in the village and find there is a handy utility space, with washer/dryer, and a downstairs shower room. Climb the cottage-style stairs to discover a double room with a window seat, where you can lose yourselves in the magnificent outlook, and a twin room with two specially made 2’6” single beds, one of which is slightly higher and accessed by steps. Unload your luggage in front of the cottage then park at the pay and display village car park 0.4 miles away.

Lace up your walking boots and make the 7-mile walk from Polruan to Polperro. Stop for a swim or to go snorkelling at Lansallos Beach along the way. Those looking for an even longer, scenic walk can go as far as Looe, 12 miles away. Head inland and drive 16 miles to reach the edge of Bodmin Moor, with its myriad walks taking you through its dramatic landscapes. Venture 15.5 miles to spend the day at the famous Eden Project, with its beautiful gardens and indoor rainforest.

The location of the cottage meant views of the river were excellent but accessibility was limited. There is no parking except to load/ unload and the extremely steep hill to the car park would be unsuitable for those with mobility issues. We love boats and enjoyed watching all the activity on the water. A busy boatyard right in front of the cottageRead more began work about 8 each morning and could be noisy. The local shop and pubs had everything needed but the owners had supplied all the essentials. Hide

The location of the cottage is fantastic, for the views, convenience to the shop, cafe, pubs, ferry and Polruan bus stop. We rely on public transport and provided you plan ahead and access the bus timetables for the area, it's possible to get to lots of lovely places on foot or bus. We're glad we stayed here before we're much older - if you have concerns about steep stairs, do check that the cottage would suit you. Hide

Really good location. As with most seaside towns you have to park up a hill, away from the property but once parked there, there is plenty you can do without needing your car. The local bakery, cafe and two pubs are a great addition and the regular boat to Fowey for more amenities is great.

We absolutely loved our stay! The location is fantastic, with incredible views right outside of the front door. We also appreciated our scones, jam, cream, milk and wine which was left for us. Hide
