Nestled in the Pentewan Valley, close to Charlestown, this beautifully refurbished former mill is the perfect retreat for those looking to sample a slice of peaceful Cornish life and explore the coast.

Set near peaceful farmland, close to Porthpean Beach (2.5 miles), this historic property with a garden is the place for guests who love heritage sites, country trails, and seafaring adventures. Sleeping four guests in comfort, there’s the convenience of on-site parking, plus a shop, pub, and restaurant within a mile. And you’ll find an abundance of attractions nearby including Charlestown Harbour (2.5 miles) with its famous tall ships – just keep an eye out for Poldark, as it’s a film location from the popular TV series.

Step up to the entrance of this handsome living space where country-style decor harmonises beautifully with exposed stone and rustic timber beams. Kick back on spacious seating with a favourite book, or enjoy films on the Smart TV in the living room – perfect after a hike in the surrounding Pentewan Valley. Family mealtimes are a breeze with the well-equipped kitchen, and you can pack light as the property has its own washer/dryer. Settle into the cosy bedrooms upstairs for a great night’s sleep – both are en-suite and have TVs. And make the most of sunny rays with a BBQ on the patio to dine al fresco under the Cornish stars.

Head to the Victorian market town of St Austell (2 miles) where you can browse independent shops, take a brewery tour, and visit a china clay museum. Or venture south where you’ll discover the colourful fishing village of Mevagissey (4.5 miles); the leafy Lost Gardens of Heligan (4.5 miles); and the sparkling Roseland Heritage Coast (4 miles) – part of the South Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Secret coves, curious creeks, and rugged shores with smugglers’ tales await your adventures in Cornwall.

Trelawny cottage was very comfortable and clean, and very central for visiting places. There is a nice 2 mile flat walk along the river and through the woods to Pentewan, where the Ship Inn does really good food, also the Woodman, a 10 minute walk on the main road, best book unless you eat early.

A lovely well appointed cottage, spacious and very comfortable in every way. It's in a very quiet and peaceful location but very close to good pubs (Kingswood Bar & Restaurant, Polgooth Inn) and lots of interesting places (Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan, etc). A very nice cottage in a peaceful rural setting but not too far from all the areas attractions. The beds are comfortable as are the sofas in the lounge. There is plenty of parking space and a nice small garden area with barbecue. We enjoyed our holiday and would definitely recommend the cottage to others.
