Light the open fire in here then choose a film on the Smart TV with DVD player, to relax in front of as the logs gently crackle in the background. Make your way into the farmhouse-style kitchen/diner to whip up tasty treats with local produce on the oil-fired range or in the oven in the utility room. Perch at the table with a glass of wine, pick out a tune on the piano and lay the table for dinner so everyone can sit down together. Find there is also a downstairs shower room and a WC. Head upstairs to lay down your head in either the super-king-size bedroom, with zip-and-link beds that can be arranged as twins in advance, the double or either of the two single bedrooms. The family bathroom is also on this level. Dine out in the walled garden on sunny days, visit the Iron Age fort within the shared grounds and find parking for three cars at the cottage.
Plan an afternoon out browsing in the shops in the harbour town of Fowey, 14 miles away. Pick up a section of the South West Coast Path from Mevagissey, 8.5 miles away: walk the 10.5-mile stretch, to Par, for example, which takes you along high cliffs and past scenic, rocky coves.
