The Lantern is perfect for couples looking to get away from it all and enjoy a peaceful break in the Cornish countryside with picturesque walks right from the doorstep. Scoff scones laden with jam and clotted cream on the beautiful patio and relax to the sound of birdsong before a gentle ramble through the Tamar Valley. With weary legs, retreat back to the single-storey cottage, strike up the wood burner, sink into the plump sofa and unwind.

A palette of chalky hues combined with exposed beams and wooden panelling make this an elegant dwelling to escape to. The open-plan lounge and dining area are flooded with natural light through floor to ceiling windows - the perfect spot to unfurl with a good book. Why not make a toast to the holiday with a champagne breakfast in bed before setting out to explore?  The property benefits from plenty of outdoor space, with a private garden plus a 3.5 acre enclosed field.

Tucked away in the quaint village of Metherell, The Lantern is ideally located on the border of Cornwall and Devon. The Cottage was situated in a very peaceful location and was well equipped and clean. The owners live next door and were on hand if we needed any assistance. The small, private courtyard garden was in a sunny position and was very nice for sitting and eating outside in the morning or evening.

Lovely little residence, well equipped and ideal for a couple and a medium sized dog. Lovely cottage, great for exploring the local area. We've stayed in a few different places & this was by far the best equipped. Everything we needed for a weeks break. The small garden was big enough for our dog, but maybe on the small side for a bigger or 2 dogs, there is the paddock which looked great. Very well presented accommodation. Particularly suited for those with a canine companion as there is a small secure garden as part of the property and a generous, secure paddock which, with the kind permission of the owners, is available for safely exercising your pet.

We had a wonderful stay here, as did our dogs. Beautiful, peaceful location - the Tamar Valley is stunning. A perfect home from home. Great base to visit all the coast line in north cornwall and over the border into Devon. Quiet location and the garden is a perfect sun trap. Owners were very friendly and gave great advise on the local area. A great holiday.
