There are few better places to watch the sun come up than at this delightful former coastguard's cottage in Portwrinkle. With the sounds of the sea below and a whole host of pretty coves and beaches to discover nearby, this coastal retreat will whisk you away from the stresses of daily life in no time at all. Explore the coast, pick up some freshly-caught seafood, and head back as the sun goes down.
The traditional porch entrance to the cottage takes you through to a cosy lounge with a warming wood burner, the perfect place to come back to after a bracing winter walk. Seaside touches and beachy tones featured throughout the cottage reflect the stunning ocean views, and the bright kitchen offers a vintage vibe. Watch the sunset from the tiered garden, boasting panoramic sea views; the perfect end to any day.
Walk the South West Coast Path just behind the house along to the village and beach of Downderry, just over 3 miles away, or join it at the 18-hole Whitsand Bay Golf Club, half a mile from the cottage. After 3 miles, you will come to the sheltered sands of Tregantle Beach, overlooked by its historic fort. Portwrinkle also offers two beaches itself if you prefer to stay closer to home, one just 50 metres away. The charming harbours of Looe (8 miles) and Polperro (13 miles) are a great day out by car.
