World Heritage Site in Luxulyan Valley Opens After Restoration

Written by Catherine on

Members of the community gathered last week to celebrate the completion of a £30,000 restoration project of a World Heritage Site in Luxulyan Valley.

Volunteers and schoolchildren were present for the reopening of the 1km stretch of the Carmears Tramway last Tuesday.

Granite setts and two lengths of the original tramway rail that were uncovered during restoration work between Treffry Viaduct and the Wheelpit will now be on show for visitors to the tramway, who will also be privy to a greater understanding into the tramway's construction, a knowledge of its original purpose and a better walking environment.

Book a break in one of the stunning nearby Cornwall cottages today and explore this unique bit of the Duchy's heritage for yourself. It could represent the perfect day out for you and your loved ones to embrace.
