THE
HISTORY - During
the year 2000 almost 500,000 people came to the visitor centre
just to see the giant biomes being constructed. In the winter of 2000/2001
the
giant lean-to conservatories were filled with 4,500 different species of plants
from
the humid rainforest and warm temperate regions of the world and
the Eden project was officially opened on the 17th March 2001.
Since then Eden has averaged 1.8 million visitors per year.
