The Carlyon Bay area is made up of three
beaches; Crinnis Beach, Shorthorn Beach and Polgaver Beach. To the East of Carlyon Bay is the magnificent Gribbin
Head, and very nearby, to the west, is the picturesque port of Charlestown.
You may often find the harbour at Charlestown full of spectacular tall
ships and with the many restaurants and pubs available, you're spoilt for
choice. The world famous Eden Project
is also within easy striking distance been only 6 miles away from Carlyon
Bay, visit our
Eden Project page. Picturesque Cornish
fishing villages of Mevagissey, Fowey, Polperro and Looe, are all just a
short distance along the coast. Nearby you have beautiful gardens at
Lanhydrock House and the Lost Gardens of Heligan.
Charlestown is home to the Shipwreck and Heritage Centre
open from
March till November. The Centre, on
Quay Road, offers an opportunity to view photography, wreckage and
salvaged cargo, also the history of underwater exploration.
