EnquireDescription
A stunning stone barn conversion with a wonderful countryside and estuary view, situated in a rural area yet only a short drive from Padstow and several beaches. The Roundhouse was beautifully restored in 2003 using natural materials such as stone, wood and slate, and upstairs its open plan interior with high vaulted ceiling, exposed beams, modern woodburning stove and contemporary decor, gives it a delightful light and airy feel. The kitchen and dining areas at first floor level, together with lounge, a few steps down, master bedroom, kitchen, balcony and the garden all have wonderful countryside views down the valley to the estuary, Rock and the sea beyond. This peaceful retreat at Higher Halwyn is tucked right away from it all but a 10-15 minute drive will take you to Padstow, Wadebridge and several golden sandy beaches. It is on the edge of a small hamlet of similar dwellings found along a quiet farm lane leading down to the Camel estuary and in the other direction to the village of St. Issey and two public houses. The Camel Trail, just down the lane, follows the route of the old railway line between Padstow and Bodmin and is much loved by walkers and cyclists (bikes may be hired at Padstow or Wadebridge). The path wends its way alongside the river bank through this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with its abundant wildlife and if you are lucky you may catch a glimpse of an otter or a porpoise. The Trail provides a level 2 mile walk to Padstow or 3 mile walk to Wadebridge - ideal for working up an appetite for that cream tea! Golfers will love the opportunity of visiting St. Enodoc or Trevose, both of which are a short drive from the house and the estuary is host to a number of watersports.Click to see more area information
