Description
Full of character this picture-book 17th century cottage (formerly the village pub) is located in the heart of the charming village of Little Petherick. Enhanced by beams, open fires, slate floors and stone walls, the finishing touches made by the owners create a truly charming home from home. The cosy sitting room is furnished with deep comfortable chairs and sofas, an open fire in a stone fireplace and a large antique pine dining table - a focal point for all the family. The character continues to be evident in the well equipped kitchen which has a range cooker and a deep Belfast sink. Quaint narrow stairs lead to the pretty bedrooms each individually styled using an inspired and eclectic mix of modern and traditional. The quirky atmosphere also extends to the garden; a sweet cottage garden to the front has a grape vine growing over the kitchen door and an interesting garden to the rear which leads steeply up to a larger area with unexpected delights (children will love exploring the nooks and crannies) at the top with lovely views over the wooded valley. The cottage is set back a little from the road between the pretty and historic town of Padstow and the market town of Wadebridge, which passes through the village. Just a short step or two from your front door is the Saints' Way - an ancient trail which dates back over 1,500 years - now a great favourite with walkers providing fantastic views along the river estuary and is also rich in wildlife. Within less than a mile there are two pubs and The Journeyman Restaurant. Families will delight in the stunning beaches all within 3 - 5 miles, and gourmets have a real treat in store in Padstow, only a couple of miles away; home to Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant, and also a number of other award winning outlets from restaurants to pasty shops. The Owners are very welcoming and live in the studio next to the property.Accommodation
