Porthcothan Bay, a lovely sandy beach sheltered by sand dunes and a National Trust headland, is 600 yards away or 10 minutes on foot (all but 30 yds via a footpath). There is a small general stores right next to the beach, a local pub and in St Merryn (2 miles) a range of shops, including Post Office and baker. Trevose Golf Club (Championship 18 hole & 2 short courses and tennis courts) is 2 miles away. Padstow, a picturesque harbour town with interesting shops and Rick Stein's Seafood and other restaurants, is 5 miles away. Other award winning restaurants nearby include Viners (Summercourt) and Jamie Oliver's Fifteen Cornwall (Watergate Bay).
