Description

Barlandew is Cornish for ‘above God's enclosure' because at the time of building, a clear view of St Merryn Church could be enjoyed! This detached bungalow is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac, standing in an enclosed garden and providing a safe dog run and kennel. That is not to say dogs are not welcome inside, but is offered as an additional facility for dog owners. The centre of St Merryn village is a short walk away (approx. 3 minutes) where you will find a variety of shops, takeaways and restaurants in addition to a wine bar and the local pub. In the opposite direction lies the historic church dating back to the 1400's and the Cornish Arms run by well-known Rick Stein. St Merryn is within easy driving distance of several sandy surfing beaches and miles of spectacular coastal footpaths - amazing opportunities for the keen photographer - not to mention the nearby famous Trevose Golf Club and the popular fishing port of Padstow.

Guest Book

"This bungalow is the best we have ever booked with Cornish Horizons. It is very much 'a home from home' feel, well equipped and furnished with most modern appliances (no dishwasher but that didn't matter- saves on water!). The garden was ideal for the dog and secure too. The conservatory was an added bonus. We specially liked the additional extras- a tide time clock, a working barometer and an eco shower head."

"We stayed in the Barlandew Cottage for one week in the end of June, 2012. The strongest impression is that everything turned out to be better than we expected. The cottage was clean, tidy, tastefully decorated, everything - furniture, beddings, cutlery, appliances, bathroom, fixing-fixtures were of high quality. We liked that there was a small library of fiction books, that we were greeted with a welcome pack of Cornish biscuits, tea bags and cup of sugar, that there was a collection of maps and local guides and even a tide timetable available. Checking in and out was hassle free - when we arrived we just unlocked the little safe box fixed next to the door and obtained they keys and we departed we just left the keys in the box. We traveled with small kids and they loved the cottage too. All floors are carpeted, it feels cosy and soft. Conservatory was our favorite part of the cottage. Even on a rainy day it was light and warm. The crocodile in the garden left unforgettable impression on our elder son and on me. The location is few minutes drive away from Harlyn bay and Porthcothan bay, and many Cornwall's attractions, such Tintagel castle within 1 hour drive. Barlandew happened to be a very nice surprise, it set the joyful, relaxing tone to our vacations."
