Probably once two separate farm workers cottages now knocked into one, parts of this building date back to the 17th century and you will find beams, bread oven, slate floors and an abundance of character. The gradual transformation into a modern day family home has resulted in a charming and eclectic mix of styles and character creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The owners have continued the eclectic feel with their furnishings and decor - don't be surprised to find old deeds used as wallpaper in the dining room! This property will appeal to those looking for a comfortable family home in a truly rural location with bags of character. Tregonce is a tiny hamlet located on farmland above the estuary of the river Camel about a half mile away and a number of the windows have lovely views across countryside to the estuary. The owners have also constructed a raised patio area which also has glimpses of the view. Although the location feels remote it is only a 15 minute drive to the shops, restaurants and galleries of Padstow and Wadebridge and also the delightful sandy beaches for which the North Coast is renowned. The Camel Trail, about a mile down the lane, follows the route of the old railway line between Padstow and Bodmin and is much loved by walkers and cyclists (bikes may be hired at Padstow or Wadebridge). The path follows the river bank through this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with its abundant wildlife and if you are lucky you may catch a glimpse of an otter or a porpoise in the estuary. There are two pubs in St Issey, one of which is only about a miles walk if you take a short cut across the fields.
