HOW TO GET AROUND THE SITE

Main navigation bars - These appear at the top and bottom of nearly every page in our website (with one or two exceptions). There are five buttons on the top bar and five on the bottom; they link to the main pages in this site.

Drop down boxes - These appear on the "Property Search" page and on each of the individual property pages. Just click the down arrow to open the drop down box menu and then select, by clicking, the page you want to visit.

'<Next Property' and 'Next Property>' links - There are links at the top of each property page (either side of the drop down box) that take you to the next smallest property (the left-hand link) and the next largest property (the right-hand link). There are similar links on each availability page; the left-hand taking you the week before and the right taking you to the week after.

Other links - There are many links throughout our site that enable you to navigate around more easily and quickly. They are underlined and coloured blue - simply click these links to go to the page you want to see.

Links to external sites - There are a few places on our website where you are able, via external links, to view other websites. The links to external sites are also coloured blue but they open in a new window. To return to our site simply close this window.

Picture enlarge links - Most of the pictures on this site can be enlarged by clicking them. Point at the picture and, if it can be enlarged, you will see a hand and usually a text box. Click to enlarge. When you have viewed the enlarged picture simply click your 'back' button on your browser to return to the page you were looking at.

THE BEST WAY TO SEARCH FOR A PROPERTY

On the main navigation bar at the top of almost every page is a button called 'Property Search.' Click this and you get to the property search page which allows you to search for a property in a variety of ways. There are five drop downs boxes.

Box 1 - 'Search by Location Menu'
If you do not want to come for a specific date, but only want a certain location then you could search for properties using the "Search by Location Menu" drop down box. Click the little arrow on the right hand side of the drop down box. Select one of the following options:

'Select Location Using Map' - opens a map of Cornwall. Hover your cursor over different areas of the map, as you do it will tell you which area you are hovering over. Click on the area you wish to visit.

'All Locations List' - opens a page with all Cornish Horizons' properties listed on it by their location. You can either select a location from the blue links at the top of a page or scroll down the page to view all the areas.

Specific Areas - the other options will take you to the page of a specific area. These pages list the properties in that area and gives you a little information and some photos.

Box 2 - 'Search by Size, Alphabetically or Grading Menu'
If you do not want to come for a specific date and you do not want a specific location then you could search for properties using the "Search by Size, Alphabetically or Grading Menu" drop down box. Click the little arrow on the right hand side of the drop down box. Select one of the following options:

'Size - All properties listed by how many they sleep' - opens a page with all Cornish Horizons' properties listed on it by their size. You can either select a size from the blue links at the top of a page or scroll down the page to view all sized properties.

'Alphabetically - All properties listed alphabetically' - opens a page with all Cornish Horizons' properties listed alphabetically. If you know which property you are looking for this is a great page to find it quickly. Scroll down the page to find the property you want.

'5 Star - List of luxury 5 star properties' - opens a page with all Cornish Horizons' five star properties listed.

'4 Star - List of luxury 4 star properties' - opens a page with all Cornish Horizons' four star properties listed. You can either select a size from the blue links at the top of a page or scroll down the page to view all four star properties.

Box 3 - 'Search by Pets Welcome Menu'
If you want to bring pets on holiday with you, you can search just the properties that welcome pets using the "Search by Pets Welcome Menu" drop down box. Click the little arrow on the right hand side of the drop down box. Select one of the following options:

'Pets welcome' - opens a page with all Cornish Horizons' properties that welcome pets listed by size. You can either select a size from the blue links at the top of a page or scroll down the page to view all sized properties.

'New properties (some may take pets - see descriptions)' - opens a page with all properties that are new on our books. The newest property onto our books is at the top of the page. Some of them may takes pets.

Box 4 - '2008 Search by Price/Availability Menu'
If you know what dates you want to take a holiday then you could search for properties using the "2008 Search by Price/Availability Menu" drop down box. Click the little arrow on the right hand side of the drop down box. Select a week, for example:

'Week 34 starting 23rd August 2008 or thereabouts' - opens the availability page for week 34. The 23rd of August is a Saturday but it says 'or thereabouts' because many of our properties have other changeover days; Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Properties are listed down the page in size order. The left-hand column shows the availability of each property, the middle column shows the name of the property, how many it sleeps, whether it takes pets, the changeover day, and it's star grading. The right-hand column shows the price for that property for the full week. You can then view the details of the property you want to see by clicking its name. We provide further help on how to use these on the Availability Pages with the 'FAQ/Help' button at the top of each week's page.

Box 5 - 'Search New Properties Menu'
If you cannot find any properties on any of the other search pages you can try looking on 'Search New Properties Menu' drop down box. Click the little arrow on the right hand side of the drop down box. Select one of the following options:

'Newly Available - properties available in last few months' - opens the 'New Properties' page and shows properties that have recently become available. Click on the name of the property (coloured blue) to go to that property's page.

'Available Shortly - properties that may be available shortly' - opens the 'New Properties' page and shows properties which we hope will become available soon. If the name of the property is coloured blue then you can click on it to see provisional details for that property. We can't take bookings on these properties until they become definitely available.

'Waiting List - details of how our waiting list works' - opens the 'New Properties' page and explains how our Waiting List operates. There is a link so you can contact us if you wish to be added to the waiting list.

HOW TO USE THE PROPERTY PAGES AND WHAT YOU WILL FIND ON THEM

General information - Each page provides: the name and location of the property; pictures of the property and/or surrounding area; a short list of main features; a price guide; a logo to indicate the property's star grading (click this logo to read an explanation of star gradings); a description of size, location, accommodation, etc.; standard details about terms and other information; and an ordnance survey map reference.

Pictures - If you point at a picture, a text box will appear telling you what the picture is of. The external picture can normally be enlarged by clicking it and then clicking the 'back' button on your browser when you have finished. The thumbnail pictures at the bottom of the page can also be enlarged by clicking on them and closed by pressing the back button.

Accommodation logos -

At the top of the page, under how many the property sleeps, are three logos:

Bed Linen Logo - tells you whether the property includes bed linen 'INC',
whether it's not included but a hire service is available 'HIRE' or if it's not
included and there is no hire service available 'N/A'

Towels Logo - tells you whether the property includes towels 'INC',
whether they are not included but a hire service is available 'HIRE' or if they
are not included and there is no hire service available 'N/A'

Star Grading Logo - tells you what grading the house has been awarded
by VisitBritain. Click on the logo to see an explanation of what each
grading means.

'Information and Facilities' - This tells you the following:-

The normal changeover day
Whether pets are accepted and if there is an additional charge or restrictions
Security bond (if applicable)
Restrictions or special advise (if applicable)
Information about power and heat i.e. type and whether included in rent
What bedding is provided e.g. duvets or blankets (pillows provided to every property) and whether linen and towels are included
Baby equipment - if it is provided or, if not, whether it can be hired
Telephone
Nearest shop
Nearest public transport
Ordnance Survey Map Reference

The security bond - These will only be required if specified on a property's details. However a 'special bond' may be required in special cases. This normally relates to the age or makeup of the party e.g. single sex parties over 2, or groups of single people aged under 25.

'<Next Property' and 'Next Property>' links - These take you to the next smallest property (the left-hand link) and the next largest property (the right-hand link).

'To Book this Property' link - This is a link which takes you to the "To Book or Contact us" page and has a further link to a booking form which you can print out.

IF YOU ONLY WANT TO COME FOR A FEW DAYS - SHORT BREAKS EXPLAINED

If you want a holiday for a few days you want what we call a Short Break. You can follow the link to the 'Short Breaks' page to see what time of year these can be taken and by how much prices are reduced for short breaks. Click short breaks now. As a basic guide - you can book a short break at any time during low season, at three weeks notice mid season and at very short notice at other times. The availability pages show you whether a week is a low season, mid season or other type of week. Rents are 67% of the weekly rent for a break of up to three nights, 74% for a four night break and 80% for a five night break. NB A few properties do not charge for Short Breaks in this way and where this applies there will be a reference to this in the property details.

HOW TO BOOK A PROPERTY OR CONFIRM AVAILABILITY

If you decide you want to book a property or confirm availability with us, click book or contact us. If you click the 'To Book this Property' link at the bottom of any of the property pages you will also get to the book or contact us page. From this page you can print off a booking form and booking conditions on your printer.
