Padstow is an historic working fishing port on the river Camel estuary,
with a beautiful unspoilt harbour and a maze of picturesque narrow streets
leading down to the harbour. Sailing and windsurfing are popular on the
estuary waters so yachts will often be found tying up next to fishing
boats off loading their catches into the waiting arms of the chefs from
the nearby seafood restaurants. A variety of fishing trips leave daily
from the harbour as well as speed boat and pleasure boat rides. Within
easy striking distance are magnificent walks along the coastal footpaths
and just a few miles down the coast are some of the finest beaches in
Cornwall; a number absolutely ideal for surfing the rolling Atlantic
breakers.
