A beautifully converted stone barn within a mile of the sea and sand at Porthcothan Bay is the perfect holiday base for a family or group of friends. The cosy, dog-friendly property sleeps eight guests, together with two pets, and is within easy reach of shops and eateries in the village of St Merryn, 2 miles away. Porthcothan, where your pets can run free throughout the year, is one of several golden beaches, beloved by families and surfers alike, in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Wonderful clifftop walks abound, and the pretty fishing port of Padstow is 5 miles away.

This holiday home is an invitation to relax, with comfortable seating in the spacious lounge, a country-style dining area and a streamlined, all-white kitchen. A pretty, ground-floor bedroom with an en-suite has twin zip-and-link single beds which can form a 6′ super-king-size bed. Upstairs are a bathroom and two bedrooms. One is king-size; the other has bunk beds and zip-and-link twin beds which can form a super-king-size. Outside, a small, paved patio has garden furniture. Other properties on this site can be booked together for families or friends who want to share a holiday together.

The semi-detached barn is close to a holiday park, with a handy shop, bar/restaurant and a children’s play area, which guests can use during the summer season. Enjoy live music at a traditional pub in Porthcothan, with a garden where you can take in superb views across the bay. For a different perspective, hop on a boat trip from Padstow’s bustling waterfront along the spectacular North Cornwall coastline. Look out for seals and dolphins along the way. Back on dry land, enjoy a meal at one of the town’s renowned seafood restaurants. The Kart Circuit at St Eval (3 miles) is fun for all ages.

Lovely accomodation and great beaches within walking distance. Bit of a trek to the supermarket but plenty of storage and good size fridge freezer to get plenty of stock in for the week. Kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed and plenty of space in the accomodation for 7 of us and two dogs

The cottage is really lovely and within strolling distance to the beach. I gave 4 for equipment solely on the basis of blunt knives. To be fair, this is an issue with most holiday lets. A knife sharpener would have been handy. I certainly wouldnt be put off rebooking!
