Get that seaside feeling as soon as you enter this light and bright holiday home, just a few miles from some of North Cornwall’s loveliest golden beaches. The light and bright property, sleeping four guests, has an appealing nautical theme throughout. Ideal for a family, it is set on a parkland site close to the village of St Merryn. A children’s play area is on-site, along with a seasonal shop and pub, and there are more shops and excellent eateries in St Merryn. The historic fishing port of Padstow is 2.5 miles distant and offers family attractions from sea safaris to adopting a baby lobster.
This cosy chalet is deceptively spacious and comfortably furnished, with a pretty marine palette of soft blues and white. The open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner has comfortable seating overlooking a grassed area outside and has all you need for holiday cooking. There are two attractive bedrooms – a double and a twin – and a bathroom. Immediately outside is a picnic table on the grass, with a designated BBQ area for the whole site at a close distance.
St. Merryn’s Cornish Arms, owned by Rick Stein, serves tasty traditional pub grub and, if a classic fish supper appeals, Padstow offers excellent seafood restaurants. The picturesque town’s busy harbour is a great place for a stroll and there are regular boat trips from the quayside to look for marine wildlife such as seals and puffins. Classic sand and surf beaches such as Harlyn Bay and Trevone Bay are within three miles and there is another lovely beach at Rock, a short ferry ride across the Camel Estuary. Meet farmyard animals, play crazy golf and take a miniature train ride at Macdonald’s Farm, in Porthcothan (2 miles). Or enjoy family fun at St Eval Kart Circuit (5 miles).
