A delightful granite cottage with wonderful sea views in the picture-postcard village of Mousehole, this property is the perfect base from which to explore beautiful West Cornwall. Sleeping six guests, it is quietly located, yet within easy reach of the harbour beach, cafes and cosy traditional pubs. This lovely holiday home is full of character and most rooms have views across Mount’s Bay. There are more coastal vistas from the pretty terraced gardens to the front and rear of the cottage. Shops in bustling Penzance are within 3 miles, and there are large, sandy beaches at picturesque Marazion (8 miles) and Sennen (7 miles).
Period details such as ceiling beams, exposed granite walls and a splendid inglenook fireplace enhance the property’s charm. The open-plan living/dining/kitchen area is tastefully furnished in soft blue tones, with comfortable seating in front of a cosy wood burner. Upstairs, there is a bathroom and three inviting bedrooms: a king-size, an en-suite double and a twin. The enclosed terraced garden to the front has patio furniture, while the rear houses a raised summerhouse with seating and a spectacular view of the coast to Lizard Point. Please note, there are steep steps in both gardens.
Mousehole’s Rock Pool, a shallow, natural rock formation filled with seawater, is perfect for children. For a touch of luxury, head to the glamorous Jubilee Art Deco lido on the seafront in Penzance; the pool has a section heated by a geothermal well. Penlee House and Gallery in the centre of Penzance is set in splendid sub-tropical gardens and houses a museum of West Cornwall history, with a fine gallery of famous works by the Newlyn School of Artists. A walk or boat ride to St Michael’s Mount in Marazion is a must. The village has cafes, galleries and there is a children’s playground.
