Whisk your loved one away to this romantic Cornish hideaway that sits right on the water’s edge in Fowey. Sleeping just two guests, the magical, one-bedroom retreat has a balcony overlooking the River Fowey and with views over to Bodinnick and Ferryside, the former home of novelist Daphne du Maurier. From the ground-floor apartment, head into trendy Fowey to enjoy its many boutiques, galleries, restaurants and bars or head out to the beach or to walk along the picturesque South West Coast Path.
Make your way down the stairs to your private bolthole and let yourselves in to discover an open-plan kitchen/lounge/diner. Prepare delicious dinners for two in here on those nights you choose not to eat out, then dine at the table and settle down in front of the TV to enjoy a good film before bed. On fine days, open the door on to the balcony to bring in a cool river breeze. Soak in a hot bath at the end of each busy day and then wander through to the king-size bedroom for a good night’s sleep, knowing you will awake to the sight of the river. Have breakfast out on the balcony on summer mornings and a glass of fizz on warm evenings. Parking for this cottage is in nearby public car parks.
Stroll along beside the river to further enjoy the views. Walk 0.5 miles to Whitehouse Quay to catch the ferry over to charming Polruan for the day. Spend an afternoon on the beach at Readymoney Cove, just over 1 mile away, and while you are there see St Catherine’s Castle. From here you can also pick up the South West Coast Path. Have a day out to the famous Eden Project, 6 miles from your apartment, with its botanical gardens to wander through.
