Star grading explained...

All of our properties are inspected and graded under the National Quality Assurance Scheme administered by VisitBritain and all the regional tourist boards. To help you understand this we list below an extract from the VisitBritain site which explains the scheme and the star grading system:

The Enjoy England Quality Rose reassures you before you check into your holiday accommodation that it will be just what you want, because it's been checked out by independent assessors. Enjoy England assessors work all year round, ensuring that the standards you find are what you would expect. And since we've done all the work, you can relax, book with confidence and get on with the real business of having a fantastic break!

Our objective quality ratings give you a clear indication of accommodation standard, cleanliness, ambience, hospitality, service and food. Using a clear star rating system (1-5 stars), they provide the reassurance you need about what to expect before you arrive. Generally, the more stars the higher the level of quality. For individual types of accommodation, the quality rating allows you to distinguish between both the quality of the accommodation and the facilities on offer.

Quite simply, the more Stars, the higher the overall level of quality you can expect to find. Establishments at higher rating levels also have to meet some additional requirements for facilities. For more information see the Visit Britain website.

1 star

Simple, practical, no frills. Acceptable overall level of quality. Adequate provision of furniture, furnishings and fittings. A microwave is provided.
2 star
Well presented and well run. Good overall level of quality. All units self-contained. All beds full size.
3 star
Good level of quality and comfort. Good standard of maintenance and decoration. Ample space and good quality furniture. All double beds with access from both sides. Bed linen available.
4 star
Excellent overall level of quality. Very good care and attention to detail will be obvious throughout. Either access to washing machine, if not provided in the unit, or a 24 hour laundry service. Freezer space (could be ***ice box). Bed linen provided within the rental price (towels available with or without extra charge).
5 star

Exceptional standard with a degree of luxury. High levels of décor, fixtures and fittings, together with excellent standards of management efficiency and guest services. Excellent range of accessories and personal touches. Dishwasher and separate freezer. Towels included within the rental price. Two of the following should also be included - tumble drier, telephone capable of making and receiving calls (prepaid credit mobile acceptable), hi-fi, video recorder, dvd player.

 

Gold Awards
Gold Awards are given to properties that provide exceptional quality within their star grade.



In addition to specific furnishings and equipment specified in the individual property details, each cottage has the following items, in accordance with the minimum 'VisitBritain' inventory:-
