CHECKING AVAILABILITY
To check availability use
the the '2010 Search by Price/Availability Menu'
drop down box below. Click the arrow on the right of the drop down
box. Then select the week which interests you to see whether the property
you require is still available for the period you want. Please note
that weeks which are provisionally booked are shown as available until we receive a booking form
and payment. During Low Season the vacancy pages do not show
whether a property is available for a specific week, but just show whether
it is available for Low Season as a whole. If you want to stay for
less than a week click the
short
breaks link to find out how to work out a short
break rent and to see when short breaks can be taken.
BEFORE MAKING A PROVISIONAL BOOKING
Before making a
provisional booking please note the following:
-
Pets - If you are bringing a pet or pets
please check that they are allowed in the property you are booking and that
there is not a limit on the number, type or size of pets allowed (this information is normally shown in the property
INFORMATION AND FACILITIES section of the property details).
-
Size of party
- The total number of adults and
children (excluding babies) in your party should not normally exceed the number
indicated on the property details.
-
Other
restrictions - Check that there are no
other restrictions referred to in the details which would make the property
unsuitable for you.
-
Non family
bookings - If yours is a non
family party please note that bookings to single sex
parties in excess of two or groups of single people where the majority are under the age of 25 will
only be accepted if specifically agreed and, if so, special conditions might
apply - for more information click non family parties.
-
Booking
conditions - Before you make a provisional booking please read the 2010 booking conditions
(opens in a new window).
MAKING A PROVISIONAL BOOKING
If the website indicates that
the property you wish to book is available you will need to contact us for
confirmation. This is because a provisionally booked property will
still be shown as 'Available' until the booking form and payment have been
received. Contact us as follows:
-
Telephone -
01841 533 331 (or +44 1841 533 331 if calling from overseas).
(Please ensure that you only dial four lots of
'threes' as the
company who have the number 533 333 are getting very belligerent about people
misdialling our number - thank you!)
-
Fax - 01841 533
933 (or +44 1841 533 933 if faxing from overseas)
-
Email - click to
make
provisional booking by email.
We will confirm whether the property you want to book is available for
the dates you require. If you email please include telephone number and
other contact information.
Office hours - Our normal office
hours are 9.00am to 5.15pm Monday to Saturday. We are closed on Sundays
and Bank Holidays.
As we are a small company, office hours may have to vary at certain times.
Occasionally we are not able to answer the phone because all our staff are engaged on
other calls - if you get the answer service please leave a message and we will
return your call. We have a 24 hour answer
phone service.
Applicant's
reference number - If you have an applicant's reference number
please tell us (you will have a valid number if you booked with us or received a
brochure from us in recent years; you should find it on
the booking form sent with the brochure). If you do
not have a reference number, advise us and we will give you one. You should use this number on any further correspondence
and on your booking form.
Please note that we only
hold a provisional booking for seven days so you will need to post
the booking form and make the payment IMMEDIATELY after contacting us.
PRINT 2010
BOOKING FORM, BOOKING CONDITIONS AND PROPERTY DETAILS
You need a 2010 booking form,
booking conditions and an up to date copy of the property details. If you
do not have a brochure you can print these as instructed below:
-
Property details -
Click
cottages sorted alphabetically to
open a window showing all our properties listed alphabetically. Then select the one you wish to book and
print the details on your printer.
-
Booking form - Click
2010 booking form and booking
conditions and print
a copy on your printer. This is in PDF format so it will only work if you have Adobe Acrobat
Reader installed.
Virtually all business and many personal computers will already have this
installed. If yours doesn't then click
Adobe
Acrobat Reader to visit Adobe's site
and download this free of charge. If you
cannot do this see below.
If you have been
unable to print the booking form as detailed above then try the
following - click
alternative 2010
booking form and booking conditions
and print a copy on your printer. This uses a graphic
file and so will take some time to download. In addition the
sizing may be affected by the way your own computer and printer are set
up. If you do have a problem with sizing then try right clicking
this link
save 2010 form to computer
and selecting 'Save Target As...' When this has saved to your computer try
opening in a programme such as 'Picture and Fax Viewer,' which should allow
you to fit the form onto a page to print. Also read
2010 booking
conditions.
COMPLETING THE BOOKING FORM
We hope that you will be able to complete
the booking form fairly easily, but if you have problems here is some additional
guidance.
Section Aa and
Ab
Complete your
personal details - this is self explanatory, but don't forget to enter into
'Your Applicants Ref No.' box the
reference number we gave you.
Section B
Enter the name and number of the
property you are booking. When
entering your arrival and departure dates PLEASE also list the day of the
week relating to both. Note that although the
arrival and departure times are usually 3.00pm and 10.00am respectively
this is not the case with every property so check these on the
INFORMATION AND FACILITIES section of the details of
the property you are booking.
Section C
Complete details of who is coming and include ages of all people who are under
25. If you are bringing a pet or pets please
give details in the space provided.
Section D
Enter the rent for
your holiday in the first box. If you are bringing a pet you will
normally have to pay an additional charge - see details of property you are
booking (the weekly rate shown includes part weeks as well). Enter the pets
charge in the second box. There may also be optional extras at the
property you are booking, eg. linen, towels, hot tub, logs. If so,
and you wish to take up this offer, make a note on the form of what it is
you are paying for and then enter the relevant amount in the third box.
Then in the TOTAL RENT AND EXTRA CHARGES box
enter the total of the three boxes.
Section E
Normally left blank, however if a damage deposit or a special damage
deposit is required
please complete this section. If you are booking within 8 weeks of
your holiday then you need to include the amount of the damage deposit in
your payment. Otherwise it may be paid with your balance
payment 8 weeks before the holiday.
A damage deposit is only required
if stated in the
INFORMATION AND FACILITIES
section of the details of the property you are booking; this will only
apply to a few cottages.
A special damage deposit is normally only required if yours is a non-family party such
as a single sex party in excess of two or is a group of single people
where the majority are under the age of 25.
If this applies to you see special
damage deposit or
damage deposit below for further details.
Section F
Payments can be made in a variety of
ways - to find out how you can pay either click
payments from
UK or alternatively overseas
payments (each
link will open in a new window so close after use).
If you are paying by cheque or postal order (we do not recommend payment in
cash by post) tick the first box and complete the amount you are enclosing.
If you are booking
more than eight weeks before your holiday we require a deposit of a minimum of
25% of the total rent shown in the TOTAL RENT AND EXTRA CHARGES box at Section
D. above. If you are booking eight
weeks or less than eight weeks before your holiday you will need to pay the
total rent shown in that box.
If you are paying by credit or debit card tick the second box and then
complete Section G. Please note that all card payments are subject to a
1.5% surcharge except UK debit cards.
If you have already paid by card over the phone just tick the third box and
ignore Section G.
Section G
Only fill in this section if you have not already paid by credit or
debit card and wish to do so. Be sure to tick the appropriate box
for the card you are using and then also tell us what card you are using by deleting
the cards that do not apply. If you are using a type of card which
is not listed please call us for advice. (NOTE: We do not normally accept American Express payments due to the
surcharges incurred, but if you have no other means of paying contact
us and we may be able to make special arrangements at extra cost).
Tick box (1) if you are booking more than eight weeks before your
holiday. Tick box (2) if you are booking eight weeks or less before your holiday.
Insert the card holder's name and address (although you only need to
complete the address section if the cardholders address is different from
details in box A) and then complete all the remaining boxes including the issue number if you are paying by
Switch. Please don't forget to
include your signature.
Section H
If you can
remember, please tell us where you originally found our name - here are some
examples:
(a) if you found our web address in a guide such as Holiday Cottages
magazine please write 'Holiday Cottages'.
(b) if you found our address or a link from another website such as
'Chycor' please put this even if you found Chycor from a search engine
(c) if you found our address directly from a search engine, such as Yahoo
or Google,
please put name of the search engine.
(d) if you have booked a holiday from us before or if you have had a brochure
in the past just write ‘Ex’.
THANK YOU
Section I

not recommend that cash payments are made by post, but they can be made
in person if you are coming to our offices to make your booking.
-
Banker's draft - made out in pounds
Sterling from a UK bank.
We do not normally
accept American Express or Diners cards, but if you have no
other way of paying please speak to us as we may be able to arrange this
subject to special conditions.
OVERSEAS PAYMENTS
Payments from outside
the UK can be made in one of
the following ways (we reserve right to change conditions
about overseas payments if bank charging system alters):
-
Cheques -
cheques must be drawn from a UK bank and must be made out in pounds sterling.

Sterling from a UK bank.
In other cases the applicant
agrees to pay all additional charges incurred by Cornish Horizons for cheque
negotiations for each and every payment made. NOTE We reserve the right to change
conditions about overseas payments if bank charging system alters.
DAMAGE DEPOSITS
Some
property owners
require a returnable damage deposit to be sent with the balance or full
payment of the rent. If a damage deposit is required it will be indicated
(and the amount
specified) in the
INFORMATION AND FACILITIES
section of the property description. If payable, these are the
details of how this works:
Damage
deposits are due, and will be paid in, at the same time as the balance or
full payment of the rent. Provided that the owner does not require any
deductions to be made, it will be returned to you promptly after
departure. If the owner instructs Cornish Horizons to make any deductions
as a result of damage or other problems (see booking conditions) then the
balance will normally be refunded within 28 days of departure.
NON
FAMILY PARTIES AND SPECIAL DAMAGE DEPOSITS
If a booking is
made for a non family party (eg. single sex parties of more than 2 people or
groups of single people where the majority are under the age of 25) a special
damage deposit may be required.
-
Single sex
parties - bookings to single sex parties in excess of two will not
be accepted unless specifically agreed in writing - so if this applies
to you contact us immediately. If there is an agreement to accept
such a party it is likely that special conditions might apply such as
the payment of a special damage deposit.
-
Groups of single
people under 25
- bookings for groups of single people where the majority
are under the age of 25
will not be accepted unless specifically agreed in writing - so if this
applies to you contact us immediately. If there
is an agreement to accept such a party it is likely that special conditions
might apply such as the payment of a special damage deposit.
-
Other
circumstances - there may be other circumstances which warrant the
payment of a special damage deposit. We reserve the right to request such a
damage deposit.
Special
damage deposit - Such special
conditions mentioned above may include the requirement for references or for
the payment of a special bond of an amount to be agreed. The
terms for its return and any deductions to be made from it would be the same
as those specified regarding damage deposits above. If a special
damage deposit is required this should be sent with the balance or full
payment of the rent.
BRINGING PETS
Pets are only
allowed where specifically stated
in the
INFORMATION AND FACILITIES
section of the property details.
Where pets are permitted there may be a
specific limitation on size, type, number or where they are permitted in the property.
In all cases they will be subject to the general conditions regarding pets
stated in the
2010 booking conditions.
An extra charge is required for a
pet in most properties - again see details of the property you wish to book.
